Sideshow Collectibles via their Sideshow Experience and Facebook page have given fans of the Star Wars saga something to drool over. What might that be you ask? Well, its a preview of an upcoming statue in their Mythos line which started with Darth Maul. The character previewed you ask? It’s none other than I would venture to guess most Star Wars fans favorite Bounty Hunter Boba Fett. The video gives you a little insight into the making of this statue and I will include a pic from Sideshow that shows you a great group shot including Fett.
Check out the video at Sideshow’s great Sideshow Experience.
This week collectors had were given the chance to order multiple items from all the major collecting companies from any license they really would want to buy from. These companies literally covered all my favorite licenses this week with The Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and Star Wars. Needless to say this was a great week for collectors on top of a great film like The Avengers coming out.
Now what exactly came out and from whom:
Sideshow Collectibles – Sideshow released the first statue from what is sure to be an amazing line of statues from the Star Wars saga. Darth Maul is the first character from the new Mythos line which gives us a look at the Star Wars characters we love but in moments we didn’t see in the films or cartoon. Maul in his statue is obviously training as he prepares to do Darth Sidious bidding in tearing apart the galaxy. The price for Darth Maul is $250 with a $25 NRD and a shipping in October of 2012. Do so now before its too late and you’re left holding the bag.
Weta Workshop – The folks at Weta released the third statue in their mini-statue line of characters from The Lord of the Rings. The character who is joining the line up of characters is none other than that ranger known as Strider. This amazing statue is such a great representation of the character and happens to be from a moment when we first meeting him both in the movie and book. The price for Stirder is only $75 and he won’t be shipping until September/October of this year so please make sure you get this statue.
Hot Toys – Hot Toys has given us the next character from this summer’s amazing move The Avengers with The God of Thunder himself Thor. This version of Thor is pretty awesome and I think a bit better than the first figure of the character. Thor comes with multiple hands and the cosmic cubes holding tube which will run you $200 but he won’t be shipping until December of this year. You can order this through Sideshow Collectibles or your favorite etailer.
Gentle Giant – Another item from The Avengers comes to us from the folks of Gentle Giant. The Mark VII suit that Tony Stark breaks out during the movie is the first mini-bust from Gentle Giant for The Avengers. Right now the image is just a conceptual photo from the movie but it gives you an idea of what it will look like. Also if you order this weekend it will only cost you $59 with free shipping and starting Monday it will bump up to $85.
Today, I have for your viewing pleasure a review of the Sideshow Collectibles Battle Droid 2-Pack. These were first shown around Comic-Con last year looking very impressive and came out in production as good. The 2-Pack really shows the steps Sideshow has taken in what they’re willing to give a go in 1:6th scale and that they will be willing to tackle more complex projects. This Droid set comes in with a price tag of $120 but includes two figures making it a great price of only $60 per set. The Exclusive set has a wait list which includes the special 1138 backpack, but the regular version of the set is listed as in-stock and can be shipped to your door in 24.
As always here’s the review and pics. Thanks for watching.
Today, in Sideshow Collectibles Newsletter we get two amazing items one for fans of Batman and one for fans of Star Wars. Fans of the Caped Crusader get a second chance to order one of the coolest items Hot Toys has ever made for the Batman series of figures. The Tumbler 2.0 aka the Batmobile is back and available to order right now from Sideshow. The Batmobile will cost ya $470 and will have a NRD of $47 charged with the first 24-48 hours of the time of purchase. Star Wars fans got a preview of a really superb looking Battle Droid with STAP. I got a chance to see this combo at Comic-Con last year and it will be worth a purchase. Stay tuned next week for when this goes up for Pre-Order.
Today, I’ve got another review for you and this time it comes from Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars 1:6th figure line. The character I have for you is Commander Gree who you might remember when Order 66 came down was supposed to kill Yoda but managed to lose his head. This clone is maybe the hardest one for Sideshow make so far because of the complicated camo pattern but it came out really well done. If you’re a fan of the Clones like me this is a must and if you make this your first Clone then congrats.
The 2011 version of Sideshow Collectibles Spooktacular event has come to an end and what an event it was in 2011. Star Wars fans got plenty of love with multiple items and previews and Ringers also got a nice treat with a brand new maquette announcement. Marvel and DC fans were not left out either with amazing pieces coming from those licenses.
The Lord of the Rings maquette line got a great announcement and the first bad guy announced in this line so far with the Ringwraith/Witch King maquette. This awesome piece captures the Witch King as he’s on weathertop moving towards Frodo about to stab him. The exclusive item on this piece is a switch out right hand holding the dagger completing the Witch King look. The exclusive and regular will cost $250 and have a NRD of $25. This piece will ship to collectors sometime during Quarter 3 of next year.
Star Wars fans got several items for order as I said ranging from nearly every line that Sideshow Collectibles has. From the 1:6th line for an instock purchase fans get a chance to order the Utapau Shadow Trooper and a pre-order of the Holiday Yoda both of which I talked about already. Also in Sideshow’s production blog we got a great video of the upcoming The Phantom Menace Obi-wan Kenobi 1:6th figure. Premium Format collectors got a chance to order Grand Moff Tarkin and I-TO Interrogator Droid which is a stunning piece to add to your collection. Tarken and his droid will set ya back $350 with a $35 NRD charged within 24-48 hours after your orders have been placed. No edition size has been announced but this will be shipping in the second quarter of next year. Finally, a preview for those who collect life sized items with the Darth Malgus 1:1 figure from the new Knights of the Old Republic
Comic-Book collectors got a couple of really awesome pieces from the world of Marvel and DC. From Marvel we get the really badass looking Colossus Premium Format. Colossus will cost you $400 and have a NRD of $40 charged shortly after your purchase. The exclusive of Colossus is a switch out portrait and a really cool print to complete an amazing item. No edition size has been announced but he is due to ship in Q2 of 2012. DC and more specifically Batman fans get a chance to Pre-Order a life sized bust of the caped crusader himself. This bust comes with a price tag of $680 and a NRD of $68 charged after your purchase but you’ll have to wait until Q2 of next year to get your bust.
Yesterday, in Sideshow Collectibles Newsletter we got pre-orders, previews, and surprise items up for grabs. For Pre-Order folks can snag the very cool Invincible Iron Man 1:1 bust that was shown all the way back to Comic-Con 2011. This awesome Iron Man collectible is gonna cost $750 with a $75 NRD but start saving up now and getting it in Q2 of 2012 shouldn’t be a problem. The surprise items that folks can pre-order are from the worlds of Star Wars and GI Joe. From Star Wars we get two figures from Medicom the R5-D4 and 4Lom figures both of which did look quite nice at Comic-Con 2011. The GI Joe or more specifically Cobra item is the Desert Officer. Now, this figure was at Comic-Con as well and man did he look freaking great and after receiving the Desert Sniper this figure is a must. He will set you back $100 bucks and will be shipping this month.
The big item in this weeks Sideshow Collectibles newsletter is a preview of the upcoming Boba Fett 1:6th figure. We’ve already seen a video preview of this figure during Comic-Con 2011 and this preview is sure to only amp up people wanting to add Boba to their collection. As a matter of fact Boba will be a PPO next Friday as Sideshow like myself expects this one to have a ton demand. So make sure you’re qualified for next weeks PPO so you don’t miss out.
